🎉 Celebrating April’s Retirement 🎉
After years of shaping PACE behind the scenes, April is off on her next big adventure…Retirement! Read April’s reflections and what’s next for her:
What are you most proud of from your time at PACE?
I am proud of how strong our Admin Team is and that I helped to expand the Team’s skillsets. I love teaching new computer skills. Seeing them connect what they do with the success of a project is exciting! I’m proud of the battery of templates I created and how everyone in the company is using them to their advantage.
Who or what inspired you throughout your career?
When I started working for PACE, I had the opportunity to work with Susan Boyd, a highly respected Planner, who taught me so much about designing utility systems that serve the communities we live in. I feel PACE is making a difference right here where we live, every day.
I am inspired by Karmell, who has a way of leading and guiding that clears away the weeds and brings the focus back to what’s important.
And I’m inspired by the company and its leadership – surviving the recession of 2008, growing and succeeding through the pandemic, and staying the course through all the challenges of our rapidly changing world.
What are you most excited for in retirement?
Getting back to being creative, traveling, and, of course, continuing to expand and hone my baking skills. I’ll still be sharing the results of my baking class homework with my favorite people on Kirkland Way. But first, I’m traveling for a month, visiting a cousin in Boston and then exploring the east coast of Canada, the Canadian Maritimes, Iceland, and Greenland on a 26-day cruise.
What will you miss most about working here?
Most of all I will miss the people. And I know I will miss the work. I love what I do, and I have loved doing it at PACE. I have often said that I wish I had found PACE 20 years earlier. This has been an incredible place to work. I am sad to leave, but I promised myself that I would retire when I turned 70 and still had time and energy to enjoy new adventures.
Thank you, April, for all your hard work at PACE. We’ll miss your insight, your energy, and your legendary baked goods. We wish you all the joy and adventure retirement has to offer.
