Crystal Springs Water District is reconstructing and replacing the existing subsurface Davis Spring potable water collection system, spring box, and on-site waterlines to improve water quality and reliability. Originally built in the 1940s, the system is in poor condition, with a failing bentonite cap, recurring coliform contamination, nitrate levels ranging from 4 to 10 mg/L, and root intrusion. PACE is designing a new concrete spring box with valving and overflow, a collection chamber, including redundant perforated pipes and a concrete cap, and water lines within the wetland.
Our environmental team provided wetland and stream delineation services, including one riverine wetland with an open-water component, a stream channel, and a natural spring, which we delineated on-site. The natural spring is one of two water sources for the District. The wetland also supplies irrigation water to nearby orchards. Our services included survey, critical area reporting, and site assessment documentation for the Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL) permit application, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental review and permitting, and design.
