A day in the life of a PACER
No two days are alike. Our old clients are coming to us with new projects, and we’re sending proposals and getting work from new clients on almost a daily basis. Every department is busy, and there’s plenty of variety to go around. Our workload makes it possible to work on different teams, so we all get the benefit of a wide variety of experience, skills and viewpoints. We hold frequent in-house meetings with our clients, giving us an opportunity to show them first-hand how their projects are being handled and accomplished. Communication is key, with senior engineers providing leadership, and all staff encouraged to contribute solutions and ideas that are ‘outside the box’.

And our work isn’t confined to the office. A project may require us to make site visits, do inspections, and attend meetings at clients’ locations, or with city, county or other agencies, and survey crews are in the field on a daily basis, covering the better part of four counties.

PACE has an active social atmosphere as well ... both inside and outside of the office. When you walk in each morning, there’s bound to be a surprise waiting ... whether it’s a huge arrangement of flowers from someone’s garden; a visit from the Mountain Man Fruit & Nut Co. rep with carts full of healthy and not-so-healthy treats, and other goodies (and speaking of treats ... Girl Scout Cookie season is a favorite here!); or it might be a dog day ... with the Vice President’s Bichon lounging on his desk, or the GIS Manager’s pooch patrolling the halls. And having a staff with a far-ranging variety of outside interests, means there are opportunities for a quick chat now and then on just about any subject you’d like.

Everyone is still buzzing about the latest Holiday party, and the great gifts we received from the company at the end of the year; but believe it or not, it’s already time to start thinking about baseball, and getting in line for great seats at Safeco Field, courtesy of the company season tickets that are generously shared. I hear that plans are already in the works for the summer picnic, and an order has been put in for a sunny day for the end-of-summer for the "Top Performers" award party.
